Career Planning with (optional) IT skills

DESCRIPTION

This QQI Level 4 course is a part-time course (one morning per week) designed to assist students in identifying their career skills and interests. It is ideal for anyone who needs support in their preparation for the job market. It will also suit those who wish to improve their career-readiness but may also be considering further study in the future.

What Will I study?

You will explore the principles of Career Planning, to include self knowledge, career options, making and implementing an action plan.

You will be supported to compile a personal job-seeking tool kit which will include a CV, and a portfolio of references and qualifications to support your job applications.

You will develop interview skills and explore other vocational and transferable skills.

  • Other Classes Offered: Students can join Computer IT skills, personal development, and English classes while attending this course.

  • Guidance and college progression: Students will also be supported to explore career pathways and educational progression if desired.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

No minimum entry requirement. Mature students welcome.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRESSION

Students can gain the skills and confidence to progress to a full QQI level 5 course if desired.


EMPLOYMENT

This course will suit those interested in developing a career plan and to identify skills for returning to employment. Students will also gain additional academic skills for progression to further study if desired.

COSTS

This is a Back to Education Initiative course and is free for many learners e.g. those in receipt of a social welfare payment or those who did not complete a leaving cert. Apply for the course and enquire at the college for further details re fees.
