DESCRIPTION

This is a two year part time BTEI course. The course equips learners the the skills and knowledge necessary for employment in a variety of health care settings. Students must complete a minimum of 60 hours of placement in a registered setting. Garda vetting is mandatory for this course and is organised by the college.

CERTIFICATION

QQI Level 5, Major Award (end of year 2)
Year 1 Modules (modules may be subject to change): Care Support, Care Skills, Infection Prevention and Control, Work Experience.

Year 2 Modules (modules may be subject to change):

Care of the Older Person, Palliative Care, Safety and Health at Work, Communications/Customer Service.

PROGRESSION

Many learners choose to move directly to employment on completion of this course. Successful learners may progress to a range of other courses in Universities and Institutes of Technology.
